Mitobe Design is a group of creators specializing in "individuals" of various divisions working in Japan and overseas.
We consider the differences in cultures, business customs, business senses, and how to approach things in Western and Asian countries.
Combining the perspective of Japan and overseas scattered around the world, we will constantly provide innovation to customers through flexible staffing according to the project.
We are aiming to become such an editorial company by looking at the big pictures and understanding accordingly.

Correct The Wrong Button.

As a fashion designer, I have been active not only in Japan but also in Paris, New York, and Milan, etc. Wherever I work, I have always cherished my pride in “made in japan.”
Sincere attitude, technique with great care, detailed consideration, and delicate beauty.
Japanese manufacturing that takes time and effort to make "good things" is something that we should be proud of towards the world.
However, nowadays, the market is filled with so much “made in japan” that is far from the truth, which is leading the world to lose the trust for real “made in japan.”
That is why I have determined to re-evaluate everything.
Now is the time to “correct the wrong button.”
To do so, we would like to cherish our motto of “INSIGHT DESIGN” and give back to society by bringing “awareness.”
We would like to introduce “genuine objects” as many as possible,
We would like to create as many smiles as possible,
We would like to make as many people happy as possible.
From the correct “MADE IN JAPAN” to “MADE FOR JAPAN.”
By providing as much "awareness" as possible, we will find a lot of joy and true richness awaiting ahead. Our mission is to correct the wrong button.

Branding

Based on our experience of building a brand from scratch in the fashion industry and overseas markets, we will collectively handle marketing, concept making, creative design, store design, budget/progress management, etc. Our strength is to be able to help you create new values.

Graphic / Web Design

According to the necessary design, we will collect top creators from not only Japan but all over the world to do custom-made team building. An art direction team that consistently handles everything from shooting to design, including logos, graphics, websites, and packaging, provides creative work that accurately approaches every corner of the world from Japan.

Movie Video Production

In the recent era, anyone can create images with just one smartphone. In the future, its evolution will accelerate, and while video design and production lose their specialty and become commoditized, we are confident that we will provide something outstanding even in that environment. Especially because anyone can do this nowadays, it is possible to surprise the world with the expression which no one can create.

Translation / Native Writing

We consider words as living creatures, and they evolve every day.
With the quality of delivering subtle nuances. Our speciality is to understand the needs of our clients with accuracy by familiarizing ourselves with the differences in culture, business customs, and approaches of each country. Hiring local staff makes this possible. Another strength is that our staff members include editorial designers and writers who have experience in media editing and writing books related to Japan.

Tourism Consulting

Tourism can be one of the core industries to support the growth of Japan in the future. We can provide strategic advisory/consultancy for local revitalization with staff who have experience and know-how in formulating basic tourism plan in prefectures as well as municipalities. We can provide advisory not only for administrative bodies but also for commercial tourism business.

Promotion Design

Based on our experience of successes and failures in doing our own branding, we will provide promotion planning, reaching out to where we want to be at. From perspectives in each stage; short-term, mid-term, and long-term, we will deliver high-cost performance with limited budget.

Akio MITOBE
Creative Director / Founder
Born in 1973, graduated from Tsuruga-kehi High School (Baseball club). He learned design on his own and founded his own brand "HBNS" in 2005. He introduced items that were completely new to the market which combined different materials and themes. While developing his career by partnering with domestic department stores such as SOGO and Seibu and also with major select shops, his brand took off its global sales and participated in "Tokyo Fashion Week in Italy" in 2013. In 2016, he presented an exhibition-style collection in Paris and New York, then officially participated in "New York Fashion Week" in 2018. In recent years, his global activity has been growing and he was also featured in the New York Times, Reuters, and WWD (NY). Finally, in 2020, he founded a team of creators, "Mitobe Design Corporation" to compete in the world.
Kaname MURAKAMI
Editor
"WWD JAPAN.com" Chief Editor. Born in 1977. After graduating from Tohoku University majoring in Education, he worked as a journalist in the Social affairs section of the local Newspaper, Shizuoka Shinbun. After leaving the Newspaper company, He enrolled in Fashion Institute and Technology, NY, majoring in Fashion and Communication. After graduating from F.I.T., he worked as an assistant to a local fashion magazine, then returned to Japan. He had worked in some collaboration works, such as for "WWD BEAUTY" and "WWD Mobile" and as a chief editor for "Fashion News", then, he has been working for "WWD Japan.com" as a chief editor since April 2017.

Fashion Photographer
Born in Milan in 1980.
Graduated from the school of photography in 1994.
Started as a freelance assistant photographer in 1997.
Started his carrier as a fashion photographer by traveling around the world in 2009.
